Get Your Work Digitalized To Stay Ahead Of Your Peers!

In this article, we will look at the meaning, types and functionality of scanners along with a brief look at some of the most reputed names in the world of scanning devices.

Before having a look at the types of scanners, let us first understand what a scanner is. A scanner is a computer peripheral that analyzes printed text, images, objects an even handwriting for the purpose of converting it into a digital form. This obviously means a reduction in the amount of paperwork and protection against paper frauds. Moreover, the digital images created by a scanner can be shared between any number of users with complete ease and perfection.

Now that we have a look at the meaning of a scanner, let us now move to the different types of scanners in the present day market. The scanners are of different types such as drum, film, flatbed, hand scanners and modern day digital scanners. The usage of each of these scanners is solely dependent upon the type of usage, resources at hand and the quality of scanning results.

How does a scanning device (scanner) works?

The object or document to be scanned is placed on the scanner's glass plate followed by the closure of the cover. A reference point for ascertaining the document size is created by the uniform background of the scanner. The CCFL or xenon scanner lamp then illuminates the document to be scanned. The scan head comprises of the lens, filter, CCD array and mirrors. It is moved at a slow pace across the document with the help of a belt attached by a steep motor.

The head is then attached to a stabilizer bar, which ensures the absence of any wobbles/deviations while completing a single and complete document scan. The document image is then reflected by an angled mirror to another and the last mirror then reflects the document image on to the scanner lens that focuses the image via the filter on the CCD array. After this, the software of scanner assembles the corresponding images into a single scanned image.

Some of the leading names in the world of scanning devices are Hewlett Packard (HP), Canon and Samsung. HP has been a pioneer in the world of scanning technologies and has introduced several affordable, high-end and performance-oriented scanning devices for the benefit of the home as well as official users.

The HP Scanjet G3010, HP Scanjet 2400 digital flatbed scanner, HP L1950A photo scanner and HP Scanjet 4890 photo scanner are some of the most highly acclaimed products from the reputed house of Hewlett Packard.

Now you must be able to find a good photo scanner for yourself. If you are looking for the best quality scanning devices at an affordable price without compromising on the overall quality, then the HP scanner is the name for you.
