Interactive Whiteboards
Interactive whiteboard is a special type of display screen which is used with a computer and a projector. It has the ability to store text or anything drawn on its surface into a computer hard disk. It can also work as a projection screen. It can control the functions of a mouse from a remote location through in-built electromagnetic and resistive technologies. A user can control the mouse functions by either using his finger or through a special pen like stylus. Finger touch whiteboards are generally used in primary schools, whereas pen touch are used in secondary schools, colleges and meeting rooms.
Front projection is a type of whiteboard arrangement in which the LCD projector is placed in front of the display screen and it projects the image taken from the computer onto the surface of the display. The projector can be held either from a projector stand, placed on a table or can be mounted from ceiling.
The arrangement in which the projector is placed behind the display is known as the rear projection. The rear projection interactive whiteboards are 3 to 4 times more expensive than the front projection, as the user can't look into the projector light which can cause damage to his eye sight and his shadow can't cast on its surface. This is all because the projector is placed behind the display.
Following Steps are involved in setting up an interactive whiteboard:
Step 1: Physically connect the board to a computer through USB.
Step 2: Install its device driver program on the computer and complete the registration process.
Step 3: Physically connect a LCD Projector to the computer through a cable wire and install its device driver program when prompted.
Step 4: Restart the computer.
